Protein is an essential nutrient that is necessary for building and maintaining healthy muscles, bones, and tissues. Food products that are highest in protein include meat, eggs, fish, poultry, tofu, nuts, and legumes. In recent decades, health trends have shifted away from the low-fat crazes of the ‘80s and ‘90s, and more focus has been placed on high-protein diets–not only for losing weight but also for reducing body fat and building muscle.
