Veronica, Smith, PhD
Dr. Veronica Smith earned her Ph.D. in Pharmacognosy from Saint Joseph’s University (formerly University of the Sciences in Philadelphia), where she conducted research on the characterization and inhibition of the dsRNA binding activity of NS1A, an influenza virulence factor. Her interest in natural product chemistry and medicinal plant-based therapeutics stems from an early academic experience in a Medicinal and Poisonous Plants class during her undergraduate studies at Lycoming College, where she earned a B.S. in Chemistry with a minor in Biology. In addition to her research expertise, Dr. Smith is an experienced scientific writer and educator, contributing to peer-reviewed publications and authoring literature review articles for the Center for Food as Medicine. She currently serves as an Adjunct Professor of Chemistry at Saint Joseph’s University.
